The ensemble

In 1996 cello player Marcello Scandelli, together with a group of musicians friends, founded the ensemble “Il Furibondo” to play musics ranging from 17th century instrumental canzonas to concertos, from ricercare to sacred and profane cantatas, in order to reconcile his own expressive identity with the “precepts” of historically informed performance based on the study of treatises and original historical sources. Within this experience, in 2011 Scandelli formed a string trio with violin player Liana Mosca and viola player Gianni de Rosa, intending to tackle a rarely visited, but rich of masterpieces, repertoire: from the monumental “Divertimento in C flat major K. 563” by W.A. Mozart to Beethoven’s “Trii”, to Boccherini, J. Haydn and Schubert’s transversal production of “small forms”, to 19th century composers like Reger and Schoenberg.
After the debut at the music festival “Nuove Settimane Barocche” in Brescia, the trio has taken part in the festival “Paesaggi Musicali Toscani” and as an ensemble in the “Meraner Musikwochen”
The recording of Mozart’s “Preludes and Fuges K. 404a”, with transcriptions from the Bach family’s musics, was published by Stradivarius in August 2016.
